Almost a fairy city built on the Douro river — with countless magnificent bridges, old boats with the port wine barrels, funicular overhead, and the amazing tall houses with gorgeous mosaic — has an essentially magic atmosphere.
Téměř pohádkové město postavené na řece Douro s nespočtem překrásných mostů, starých lodí naložených sudy s pravým portským, lanovkou nad hlavami a kouzelnými vysokými domy s mozaikou má skoro až magickou atmosféru...
Když jsem poprvé uviděla ten nejznámější pohled na Porto s Mostem Ludvíka, domečky podél řeky, lodě s opravdovými sudy, lanovku jezdící nad hlavou a nahoře na mostě právě projíždějící vlak… Bylo to jako návštěva jiného světa. Člověk chvíli přemýšlel jestli se náhodou neocitl na jiné planetě.
When I saw for the first time the most famous view to the Porto with the Luís I Bridge. There were houses along the river, and the boats with the authentic barrels, also funicular overhead and train riding on the top of the bridge… It was like exploring another world, I thought for a moment if I’m on the right planet.
Když jsme však přešli řeku a ocitli se v nejmalebnější části Porta (Ribeira), bylo to jako v romantickém historickém filmu. Vysoké domy s mohutnými kamennými terasami, na kterých se nacházely lákavé restaurace plné lidí, sedících zde a sledující pomalu plující lodě na řece. Tuto vyhlídku bych mohla bez problému pozorovat každý den…
When we crossed the river and find yourselves in the most wonderful part of the Porto (Ribeira) – it was like being in a romantic period movie. Lofty houses with huge stone terraces where there were many tempting restaurants full of people sitting and watching the slowly floating boats on the river. I can imagine observing this view every day.
Pokračovali jsme asi k nejznámější mozaice Porta a tím je kostel – Igreja do Carmo. Fasáda z roku 1912 je vykládaná typickými kachlíky zvanými “azulejos” a vytváří tak nejrůznější náboženské výjevy. Je to nádherná modrobílá podívaná!
We continued to the most fascinating mosaic of Porto, and that is absolutely this church – Igreja do Carmo. The facade is from 1912, and it was made from the typical tiles called “azulejos” creating some mystical pictures. It is a brilliant blue-white scheme!
Měli jsme koupené i vstupenky do jednoho z nejkrásnějších knihkupectví na světě – Livraria Lello, bohužel však zde byly fronty na nejméně několik hodin, a to bylo nad naše časové možnosti. Třeba někdy příště…
We had tickets to one of the most magnificent bookstores in the word – Livraria Lello. Unfortunately, it was so overcrowded and there was a line for a few hours which was above our time goals. Maybe next time…
Místo toho jsme si radši zašli na sklenici portského a nasáli trochu té pravé, kouzelné, portské atmosféry.
Instead of this, we sat in some bar and tried the original port wine and to feel the Port’s true magic vibes.
Nakonec jsme se ztratili v malebných uličkách a sledovali všechny umělce a místní obyvatele…
At long last, we got lost in the adorable streets and followed all the artists, local people…
Porto bylo nejkrásnější zastávkou na naší měsíční cestě po Portugalsku. Pokud bych někomu musela doporučit jen jedno místo, bylo by to tohle.
Porto was the most glamorous stop on our monthly way in Portugal. If I had to recommend only one place in this country, it would be Porto.
Ještě dopíjím doma zbytky portského, vzpomínám na ten nádherný výhled a všechnu tu nepopsatelnou atmosféru.
I’m drinking the last glasses of the port wine remembering the astonishing view and this remarkable atmosphere which is hard to describe.
